Francisco “Frank” Rendon, is an accomplished director, performer and educator from the Dallas area. He came to Lubbock to pursue a degree in Vocal Performance at Texas Tech University and studied under the amazing Karl Dent. After his studies, Frank worked and traveled professionally as a performer in both the opera and musical theatre worlds. Frank has performed many leading roles but his favorites include Sebastian in “The Little Mermaid,” Donkey in “Shrek the Musical,” and Seymour in “Little Shop of Horrors.” As much as he loves performing, Frank also enjoys passing on his passion for singing and acting as a theatrical director and voice instructor to both children and adults with over 10 years of teaching experience.
After working for several years as the music director for an after-school music theatre program, Frank became a classroom music teacher for All Saints Episcopal School which is also the time he began working as a performer, educator and director for Moonlight Musicals. Frank began his directing career at Moonlight Musicals when he directed Seussical the Musical and followed up with The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Miracle on 34th Street, and Singin’ in the Rain. Just this past year he directed the Frenship High School Choir production of “Les Miserables” and Mamma Mia for Moonlight Musicals in August of 2019. Frank currently works as the Director of the Moonlight Arts Academy, the educational and outreach branch of musical theatre production company, Moonlight Musicals. He produces, directs and music directs full scale musical productions for children ages 5-18 years old. He is excited to be directing the upcoming Moonlight Academy productions and hopes any children in the audience tonight will consider joining this cool crab in making some great theatre memories! Frank would lastly like to say “break-a-fin” to his beautiful and talented fiancé Kelsie Curry who is the chef that lights his fire and the rock he will always scuttle to. I love you, Kelsie.
