Gerald Dolter formed the concept of Lubbock Moonlight Musicals in 2005, based on his previous experiences with young artist programs throughout the US. His ideas of making musical theatre a family-centered recreational event has enjoyed much success in Lubbock ever since. His current production of Elf the Musical marks more than 25 different shows for him as a stage director for Moonlight Musicals. He has seen to it that the company has paid more than $1,000,000 in stipends and given professional experience to hundreds of student stage performers, musicians, and administrators.
Gerald joined the voice faculty at the Texas Tech School of Music in the fall of 1995, and became the Director of TTU Opera Theatre in 1998. He began his professional singing career in the opera houses and concert halls of the United States and Europe, where his performances were described as “radiant,” by the Frankfurter Rundschau, as “powerful baritonal presence” by England’s Opera magazine. From 1985 – 1991, He was the leading baritone with Germany’s Bremen Opera. His operatic repertoire includes more than 88 characterizations and 40 leading roles in musical theatre. He was a National Winner in the Metropolitan Opera Auditions in 1984.
